Planner Buyer - Rayfast

Rayfast is excited to announce the new strategic role of Planner Buyer – Rayfast

 

Summary

To manage all aspects of the purchase and planning of materials within the Purchasing team.

This role is at the core of our drive to deliver best in class customer service through smart inventory management and strategic purchasing decisions.

Role’s core KPIs are product OTD and Customer Satisfaction (NPS).

 

Location: Swindon, UK 

 

Main Duties

  • Placing purchase orders and works orders to ensure the inventory is kept at optimum levels
  • Responsible for sending quotations for wire, cable, tubing and other commodities to our suppliers together with negotiating the most competitive price
  • Responsible for analysing quotations from different suppliers and propose the most economic decisions
  • Overseeing transport of goods
  • Ensure purchase orders are delivered on time in full
  • Maintain supplier price agreements, communicating changes where appropriate
  • Working closely with Sales to establish firm and forecast requirements for the commodity’s to purchase
  • Working closely with the Warehouse team to issue clear and concise plans to support value add processes within the business
  • Ensure ERP data is kept updated and maintained to the highest standard
  • Point of contact on behalf of the purchase team for certain commodity’s
  • Provide detailed analysis of the required stocking policies together with the sales demand to produce stocking profiles to exceed lead time expectations and stock values remain within budget and managing purchase orders accordingly.
  • Analysis and reporting of ERP data and integrity to ensure that the warehouse stocking policies are maximised.
  • Analysis & compilation of reporting metrics for the Purchasing team to manage the external supply base.
  • Analysis of pack size optimisation together with usage algorithms to establish a best in class responsiveness to our customers
  • Work with the Continuous Improvement Champion to leverage lean management principles to deliver improved process efficiencies.
  • Working with the IT department to develop and leverage digital platforms to deliver improved tools and process efficiencies.
  • Support the introduction of new products from existing and new suppliers.
  • To perform other reasonable duties on an Ad-hoc basis that may be required by the Company

  • Strong communication skills and ability to build multi-site relationships and further strengthen supplier relationships.
  • Team Player but capable of working on own initiative
  • Results orientated and focused on high quality delivery
  • Previous buyer/planning experience
  • Distribution business system and warehouse management experience of preference but not essential.
  • Business acumen and analytical skills

 

Education and Experience:

  • Strong Microsoft Background (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Comfortable with lean management tools and culture.
  • CIPS or similar qualifications preferred but not essential
